In this talk，I have talk about the past development，present situation，and future prospects of diagnostic imaging in Japan. The future of medical care in Japan will be directed toward preventive medicine with a greater focus on humanity. This has been a brief summary of the history and future directions of diagnostic imaging in Japan. All diagnostic imaging，whether X-ray based or not，can be traced back to Dr. Rontgen’s discovery of X-rays 100 years ago.
