As has been reported, the severe earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plant accidents have affected Tokyo and the Kanto region in the areas of transportation and the availability of the electrical power. Currently many parts of Kanto are experiencing rolling blackouts due to the limited electric power supply. Plus, there have been, and continue to be, either aftershocks or new earthquakes.
Therefore, all JIRA related conferences have been discontinued or postponed. In addition, many international conferences in Japan have also been either canceled or postponed.
In order to assure the safety of all participants, JIRA has decided to discontinue the ITEM2011 at Yokohama as follows JRC committee's decision.
We hope to recover quickly, and so have the good opportunity to meet with you sooner than we anticipate. We are grateful to you for your generous understanding.
